Eventually I want to hook my girl friend up with a new head unit in her Saturn because eventually she wants to upgrade her system. I'm thinking a single din with a flip out screen. Probably go with an Alpine like this one.

System Summery So Far
Heres a picture of it from the inside of the car with the rear seats down. it sounds best this way because other wise the seats push and pull on the jam and make extra noise. the next picture is of the amp on the back of the box. soon there will be an identical amp except 4 channel and will run the mids and highs. but will look the same. after that i will trim out the box to make a false back and put a plexiglass window, backlit, to see the amps.

Alpine Type R Installed
Here is what the Alpine looks like with the rear seats folded down. Sounds best this way. Looks great with no screw heads

Subwoofer System Add On.
Picked up an PAC SNI-35 LOC(http://pac-audio.com/productDetails.aspx?ProductId=780&CategoryID=28) today. Gunna improve the detail in my subwoofer along with help filter out distortion. Can't wait to install this peice. Gunna tap directly into the factory amp powered plugs for the shaker 500 door sub to get a pure signal. The signal here ought to be strong enough for the Alpine to process Rather then connecting to the rear speakers which start losing bass past 50% volume.
Also got to find a way to keep the sub box from sliding off it's shelf. Can't accelerate really hard with out the sub box sliding back falling out of its place. Hmmm straps? Bungy?

New subwoofer came.
Its an Alpine Type R I got it for $200 at BestBuy. I was considering craigslist but the prices were about the same anyway. After installing it and listening I have realized that I really need an LOC and running the Powered Line-in off the rear speakers wasn't going to cut it anymore.
On the 2005-08 Mustang S197 the rear speakers lose bass output as the volume is increased. its something the Shaker 500 system does to preserve the speakers. I am using the stock Head Unit because I like the ful sound the 8" door woofers add and the already 5 Disc C/D changer is great and I can connect my iPod.
My plan now is to find an LOC and connect to the Wiring for the Shaker 500 Door subwoofers. I will probably connect to the Amped side so the door subs will feed plenty of signal to the Alpine MRP-500.

First Subwoofer System
The first sub I bought was a Kicker Comp-10. Its a ten inch with a single voice coil running at about 4 ohms. I paired it with a Alpine MPR-M500 because i knew i would eventually upgrade. I bought the subwoofer at BestBuy and the box at Independence Audio in Independence Missouri then later bought the Alpine amp and wiring that I regret because I could have bought each piece separate at the local hardware store for cheaper.
